Some food memories arrive late on paper but remain fresh in the heart. This visit to 29 Spice Indian Street Food and Restaurant in Charminster, Bournemouth is one such experience—long due since March 2025, yet impossible to forget.
My wife and I went for an early dinner, looking for something comforting and flavourful. For me, the timing could not have been better. I had recently returned from India, and like anyone who has travelled back from home, the cravings for authentic Indian food were hitting hard. I wasn’t looking for anything fancy—just honest flavours, warmth, and food that feels familiar. 29 Spice delivered exactly that, and more.
Located in the vibrant Charminster area, 29 Spice has a welcoming and unpretentious vibe. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine warmth. The restaurant is owned and run by a Bangladeshi owner, and that personal touch shows clearly in both the service and the food. There’s a sense of pride in what they serve, and it reflects in every dish that comes out of the kitchen.
The service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and never rushed. We were given helpful suggestions, and the staff made sure we were comfortable throughout our meal. In an age where dining can sometimes feel transactional, this experience felt refreshingly human.

Now, coming to the most important part—the food. Every dish we tried was delicious, well-cooked, and beautifully served. The flavours were balanced, aromatic, and deeply satisfying. As someone who had just returned from India, I can confidently say the food hit the right notes. It reminded me of the street food culture and homely meals that make Indian cuisine so special.
The spices were not overpowering, the gravies were rich without being heavy, and the overall presentation was thoughtful. You could tell that care had gone into both preparation and plating. It wasn’t just about filling plates—it was about offering an experience that diners would remember.

What stood out the most was the consistency—good food paired with genuinely good service. That combination is what turns a simple dinner into a memorable evening. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the meal as well, and we both left feeling satisfied and happy.

29 Spice is the kind of place I would highly recommend to newcomers, especially those who have strong cravings for Indian food or are missing the flavours of the subcontinent. Whether you’re a local resident, a student in Bournemouth, or someone new to the area looking for reliable Indian cuisine, this restaurant deserves a visit.
Looking back, this dinner at 29 Spice was more than just a meal—it was comfort, nostalgia, and satisfaction served on a plate. It may have taken me a while to write about it, but some experiences are worth revisiting, even months later.
If you’re in Charminster and craving authentic Indian street food with warm hospitality, 29 Spice should definitely be on your list.
Enjoy Your Meals 🙂
